The UK’s only charity dedicated to asthma, Asthma UK funds research and provides information and support to people affected by asthma. Asthma UK has 150 members in Northern Ireland and works with health service providers to ensure that asthma services are available to people who require them. We lobby Government to improve the lives of people with asthma. We provide a range of education programmes including Alert to Asthma, an adviceline and holidays for children with asthma. Asthma UK funds approximately £3 million of asthma research each year and is funded by voluntary donations.
Asthma UK works with people with asthma:
• in the development of information materials and research studies;
• providing opportunities for them to voice their concerns to the people who matter;
• raising awareness of the seriousness of asthma;
• on how to control asthma more effectively.
Asthma UK works with the NHS, healthcare professionals and government to:
§ develop and implement the Asthma Charter;
§ provide in-depth information to influence healthcare policy for asthma;
raise awareness among healthcare professionals and politicians of the seriousness of asthma.
