The Cedar Foundation promotes choice for people with physical disability and/or brain injury in three main areas:
Training support services at various centres throughout Northern Ireland to help trainees gain access to employment, further education or training. Services include a job support programme, basic skills training, learning support, Information Technology, and integration development. In addition, disability awareness training promotes inclusion through better understanding of disability.
Children and young people’s services that offer a range of programmes providing information and support to promote choice, opportunity and inclusion throughout Northern Ireland. These include:
• the Outlook Service - a programme of social outreach with capacity building for children and young people, delivered in partnership with local Health and Social Care Trusts;
• the Transitions Service aims to support young people with a physical disability through the transitions process;
• the Youth Matters Service provides a range of programmes that promote confidence and self esteem for children and young people with disabilities.
Living options such as the Assisted Living Scheme that provides personal care and social support to individuals in the community, accommodation services that offer sensitively adapted housing providing 24-hour care, and Supported Living projects.
