One of two independent non-executive members of the management board of the Department of Health, Social Service and Public Safety. The purpose of non-executive members is to bring fresh perspective, skills, experience and an independent constructive challenge to the management of departments.

Helen Roulston FCIM FIMC MILT MinstD BA (Hons) has been a practising management consultant for 20 years specialising in business strategy and marketing. She is currently chairman of the Institute of Directors Business Environment Committee and a member of the IoD Northern Ireland Committee. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultancy. She is a past Chairman of the Institute of Management Consultancy and a past Chairman of Momentum - the Northern Ireland ICT Federation.

She has been a non-executive director of Ulsterbus/Citybus and of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority and a board member of the Department of Regional Development - Driver, Operator and Vehicles Licensing Review Body.

After graduating from QUB, she joined Ford Motor Company's Graduate Management division in its Supply function. She held transport management positions prior to returning to Northern Ireland.
