Description:
Derry Well Woman is a health centre for women. We focus on the health needs of women as identified through two approaches:
• clarifying the major causes of morbidity and mortality in women which inform departmental and governmental priorities for action;
• identifying what women themselves see as the significant health issues for themselves on which they wish to take action.
In response we provide a comprehensive range of health programmes for women, both in-centre and within communities. These include: counselling; health promoting programmes including healthy eating and the use of complementary therapies; support groups including eating disorders, cancer and breastfeeding; promotion of positive mental health to those most vulnerable in our society; trauma work for women and communities directly affected by the troubles; and our leading without executive authority a northwest cross-border women’s health network.
