Description:
Engage with Age works to support individuals and groups aged 50+ across South and East Belfast and Castlereagh in improving health and social wellbeing, encouraging active involvement, and addressing issues facing older people.
Its vision is to see older people in this area living to their full potential, participating, exercising choice and contributing to the development of their local community. It does this by working in partnership with community, voluntary and statutory organisations and including older people’s forums.
The aims for the period 2007-2010 are:
• support and connection – to initiate, strengthen and maintain support networks and opportunities for social interaction for older people;
• health promotion and wellbeing – to develop and deliver in partnership, a range of health-promoting and lifelong learning activities for older people;
• influencing others – to challenge and influence organisations and political processes to meet the needs of older people;
• communications – to promote and disseminate accessible and clear information on services, activities and policies that impact on older people.
